Austen Covin is a minister of the gospel,and a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Technical Communication, and a passion for using media to reach people for Christ and equipping the saints for ministry . He currently lives in Edmond, OK.
He has received a Master of Theological Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Technical Communications from Colorado State University.
It was just prior to college that he felt a call to ministry. When Austen was a senior in high school, the Lord made it evident that he wanted Austen to use his talents and giftings vocationally in Christian ministry. Through college he learned that he could utilize the methods and techniques of technical communication to further the Kingdom and equip the saints for ministry.
In the summer of 2013 he surrendered to the call, and in August 2016 was ordained into ministry.
Currently, he serves as Pastoral Ministry Assistant at Edmond's First Baptist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma. His responsibilities include: managing the website, engagingthemind.org, acting as the Executive Pastor's liaison to the EFBC's communications team, and assisting the Pastor with other various ministry activities. As a member of the communications team, Austen participated in the ideation and implementation of various communications initiatives. He also works alongside the college pastor in the college ministry.
Austen also teaches the Young Professionals Connection Group (Sunday School Class) at Edmond’s First Baptist Church.
Additionally, he has experience in Youth Ministry via his time at First Baptist Church in Canadian Texas. Though his title was Youth Minister, he served in many areas of the Church. He prepared weekly devotionals, planned trips, and events, and mentored kids as they grew in Christ. He was also responsible for preparing each week's sermon video recording for broadcast on local TV. Videos were also uploaded to FBC Canadian's YouTube Channel, which Austen managed.
